Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 12, 2026

Almanac ("the App") is built by an independent developer based in Tirana, Albania. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your rights.

What we collect

• Email address and password — if you create an account, used solely for authentication. Password is hashed by Supabase (bcrypt) and never stored in plaintext.
• Document metadata — document names, types, expiry dates, and reminder preferences you enter. Stored locally on your device and, if you create an account, synced to our cloud database (Supabase, hosted in the EU).
• Photos — when you scan a document, the photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for expiry-date extraction. The photo is processed in memory and immediately discarded. It is never stored on our servers, in the cloud, or on your device.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not collect analytics, usage data, or behavioral tracking.
• We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with advertisers.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not read, store, or transmit the content of your documents beyond the expiry date, name, and type you provide.

Third-party services

• Supabase (supabase.com) — authentication and cloud database. Their privacy policy applies to data stored in their infrastructure.
• Anthropic (anthropic.com) — AI-powered document scanning via the Claude API. Photos sent for processing are not used for model training per Anthropic's API data usage policy.
• Apple / Google — in-app purchases are processed by the respective app store. We do not handle payment information directly.

Data storage and security

Document data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. If you create an account, data is also stored in a Supabase Postgres database with row-level security — each user can only access their own documents. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Your rights

• Access and export: Your documents are visible in the app at all times.
• Deletion: You can delete individual documents at any time. You can delete your entire account and all associated cloud data from the app (Sign out → Delete account).
• Portability: Your data is yours. Contact us if you need an export.

Children

Almanac is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
